👩🍳 Instructions
-
1
Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic. Set aside.
-
2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, dried oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), and season generously with salt and black pepper.
-
3
Gently mix all ingredients with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can lead to tough burgers.
-
4
Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Gently form each portion into a ¾-inch thick patty, slightly wider than your burger buns. Press a shallow indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging.
-
5
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
-
6
Carefully place the turkey patties into the hot skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached.
-
7
If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute or two of cooking. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt.
-
8
While burgers cook, lightly toast your burger buns.
-
9
Assemble the cooked turkey burgers on toasted buns with your favorite toppings and condiments. Serve immediately.
💡 Notes
For extra juiciness, don't overcook! A meat thermometer is your best friend. Feel free to customize the spices to your preference; a pinch of cumin or a dash of hot sauce can add another layer of flavor. These patties can be formed ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
