👩🍳 Instructions
-
1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
2
On a lightly floured surface or parchment paper, carefully unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
-
3
Spread the Nutella evenly over one half of the pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges. Ensure the Nutella is at room temperature for easy spreading.
-
4
Fold the bare half of the puff pastry over the Nutella-covered half, creating a rectangle. Gently press down on the edges to seal.
-
5
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the folded pastry into strips, about ¾ to 1 inch wide.
-
6
Take each strip and gently twist it 2-3 times to create a spiral shape. Place the twisted strips onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each.
-
7
In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush this over the tops of the twisted pastries.
-
8
Sprinkle the granulated sugar generously over the egg-washed pastries.
-
9
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and puffed. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
-
10
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar, if desired, before serving warm.
💡 Notes
For easier cutting, chill the folded pastry in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Leftovers are best reheated in a low oven to restore crispness. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Unbaked twists can be frozen for up to one month.
